In our association, educators and cultural awakeners are held in high regard. We were founded by such people, and we admire everyone whose aim is socially useful or idealistic. That is the foundation of meaningful non-profit organisations where such people work. The purpose of this publication is to draw your attention to an initiative whose beginnings in Bulgaria were laid by two foundations – “Reading” and “Children’s Books”. It concerns the Day of Reading, which is international and will be celebrated for the first time in Bulgaria on 17 November 2023.
You can find more about the event at https://readingfoundation.bg/day-of-reading-bulgaria/.
In our busy everyday lives many of us miss reading regularly to our young children, and we ourselves may not read often – or at all. The foundations mentioned above study this phenomenon in Bulgarian society; more information is available on their websites – https://readingfoundation.bg/ and https://www.detskiknigi.com/.
The organisers appeal for a culture of regular reading in every Bulgarian home and, on the day itself, invite everyone to set aside at least 15 minutes for this enriching activity.
For lovers of cultural and historical heritage we suggest several directories where you can access popular-science and specialised publications online. The links lead to our website and to those of our partners and friends:
