Sboryanovo – discover, know, narrate

The project “Sboryanovo – discover, know, narrate” covers a series of activities whose culmination will be the first Archaeology Festival “Sboryanovo – discover, know, narrate”. You can find out more about the Archaeology Festival here.

Its main aim is the preservation, valorisation and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Sboryanovo Archaeological Reserve in order to increase the tourist appeal of the territory of LAG Isperih. The specific objectives are:

– Involving and enriching the local community with new knowledge of the cultural heritage, its protection and its promotion.

– Building local capacity to interpret and promote the heritage by organising events aimed at tourists and visitors.

The project is financed by a grant from the Rural Development Programme for the period 2014 – 2020, which is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project was approved by an order of 30 May 2022 under a selection procedure for project proposals under sub-measure 19.2 of measure 19 “Community-led local development”. The procedure was conducted by LAG Isperih under measure 21 “Isperih – open spaces, an attractive living environment, preserved heritage, culture, nature”.

Within the project, studies are planned of the participation of the local community in the long-term archaeological investigations, and of the digitisation of photographs provided by the people surveyed. You can find out more about the activity here.

Another element of this activity is the holding of information meetings in the villages of Malak Porovets and Sveshtari with representatives of the community. You can see more on the subject here.

The project provides for an experimental survey on the territory of the reserve as preparation for a demonstration seminar on transferring good practice in non-invasive research. You can see more on the subject here.

Preparation for the Archaeology Festival includes the training of animators from the local community, who will assist in organising the practical workshops at the festival. You can find more here.

The present website was also produced under the project, and the planned activities contribute to achieving the objectives of the RDP (Priority 6) and the RDP priorities for CLLD by strengthening local identity, valorising the natural and cultural heritage, developing a dynamic living environment, developing practices and models of good governance, and involving stakeholders in the development of the territory.
